Our partner, JustGlobal, has received important help from the European SME tool
The SME Instrument is for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs – including start-ups) with a radical innovation that can disrupt established value networks and markets. This SME instrument is part of the European Innovation Council pilot (EIC pilot). This was launched on 27th October 2017 as part of the Horizon 2020 Work programme 2018-2020, when the SME Instrument, the Fast Track to Innovation (FTI), Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) Open and Horizon Prizes, were brought under the EIC pilot umbrella, to provide a \’one stop shop\’ for funding of innovators/innovations in the EU.
Opportunities offered by the pilot project of the European Innovation Council
The instrument specifically dedicated to SMEs is part of the pilot project of the European Innovation Council, which finances innovative and leading SMEs, offering financing possibilities and business acceleration services. The main objective of the pilot project is to promote those more radical innovations that create markets, improve productivity and international competitiveness, generate jobs and achieve a higher standard of living.
JustGlobal\’s innovative project
Just Global, AXEB\’s partner, has developed a product to regulate the growth of fruit and vegetables that is less harmful to human health and the natural environment than what is currently used.
In the data center of the instrument dedicated specifically to SMEs you will find an interactive map with all the projects.

During phase 2 it was chosen to finance 69 small and medium enterprises in 22 countries. The total amount, which will be distributed among SMEs to carry out 62 projects, amounts to 104 587 million euros.
