AXEB - Innovation that nourishes the future

Committed to Research and Development

At Axeb, we invest in Research and Development through two key approaches: creating our own innovative solutions and developing customized products in collaboration with our customers. This dual focus allows us to respond effectively to the changing demands of modern agriculture. As a result, we design and produce advanced biostimulants and highly effective plant nutrition solutions that naturally enhance crop growth and vitality, delivering technologies that make a real difference in the field.

We provide best solutions

We continuously pioneer new technologies in plant nutrition and formulation science, fuelling our growth and reinforcing our mission: to deliver sustainable, competitive, and high-quality agriculture for today and tomorrow.

Committed with exceptional quality

At AXEB, quality is not just a standard – it’s a promise of excellence. We are fully committed to delivering premium products and services, which is why every area of our operations is subject to continuous improvement.

To ensure full compliance with international regulations, we collaborate with leading external inspection and verification agencies such as Bureau Veritas and SGS. Their expertise helps us guarantee that our products meet the specific requirements of each destination country.

Furthermore, our final products undergo routine analysis by FITOSOIL, an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory. This ensures that nutrients are precisely dissolved at the correct concentrations, verifying both the content and effectiveness of each formulation.

Our projects

The following is a list of projects carried out from 2008 to 2025 in which AXEB Biotech has participated:
  • Coordinator of an international IBEROEKA project. Project No. IBK-08-591 – Synthesis of new thiazolidines through the valorization of agricultural waste and evaluation of their effectiveness, involving a consortium of companies from Brazil and Mexico. Years 2008–2011.
  • Coordinator of a national INNPACTO project. Project No. IPT-2011-0860-060000 (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) – Synthesis of cysteine derivatives of biological interest and their nanoencapsulation using smart polymers, in consortium with the University of Zaragoza. Years 2011–2015.

SULFUR IN PLANT NUTRITION

AXEB has developed a library of cysteine derivatives molecules for use in plant nutrition which act as a latent cysteine in vivo. When supplied exogenously to plants, these molecules enable a gradual release of L-cysteine under stress conditions, leading to an increase in glutathione levels within plant cells.

AXEB has developed these molecules under the project “INNPACTO 2011 – Synthesis of Cysteine Derivatives of Biological Interest and Nanoencapsulation by Intelligent Polymers IPT- 2011 – 0860 – 060000”, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, held in partnership with the University of Zaragoza.

  • National project within the Invest in Spain program. Project No. C1_10_31 (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) – Development of hydroxylated fatty acid derivatives of industrial interest, with subcontracting of the University of Lleida. Years 2010–2011.

Dicarboxylic acids and biopolymers

AXEB has developed a project focused on producing dicarboxylic acids from vegetal oil using green chemistry with the aim of using them as monomers for bioplastics manufacturing. This initiative was part of the program “Development of hydroxylated fatty acid derivatives derivatives of industrial interest by Biocatalysis, Chemico-enzimatical Methods and Green Chemistry”, included within the “Establishment of Foreign Campaigns” framework of the International Technology Fund Investment Agency INVEST IN SPAIN.

Carried out in collaboration with the DbA Research Center at the University of Lleida, the project enabled the development of an environmentally friendly process to obtain dicarboxylic acids from vegetable oils.

  • Preparation of a European project proposal within the SME Instrument program – H2020. Proposal No. 717542 – PetLife. Year 2016.
  • National project within the NEOTEC program. Project No. SOL-00017957 (CDTI) – Synthesis and original uses of bioactive compounds. Years 2008–2010.
  • Participant in a European consortium project under the HORIZON 2020 program. Project No. 690142 – Agrocycle. Design and development of fertilizers from urban and forestry waste to promote the circular economy. Years 2016–2019.

Agrocycle

AgroCycle is a Horizon 2020 research and innovation project focusing on the recycling and recovery of waste from the agri-food sector. Coordinated by the University of Dublin School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, the consortium brings together 26 partners from 8 EU countries, along with collaborators from mainland China and Hong Kong.

Adopting a holistic perspective, the project explores how to maximize the value of the wide range of waste streams generated across the agri-food industry. Its ultimate goal is to develop a comprehensive strategy for the sustainable valorization of agri-food waste.

To achieve this, AgroCycle conducts an in-depth analysis of agri-food waste value chains, spanning the entire lifecycle from farm to fork: livestock and crop production, food processing, and the retail sector. The project evaluates multiple valorization pathways, including biofuels, high-value biopolymers, renewable energy, and microbial fuel cells.

  • Participant in a European consortium project under the HORIZON 2020 program. Project No. 678012 – MyToolBox. Design and development of products for the reduction of mycotoxins in pre-harvest. Years 2016–2020.

MyToolBox

Axeb participates in the international consortium MyToolBox, headquartered in Europe, which provides an integrated toolbox for the safe management of mycotoxins in food and feed.

Mycotoxins are low-molecular-weight secondary metabolites produced by fungi that are toxic to humans and animals, even at very low concentrations.

The MyToolBox consortium brings together leading experts from 23 partner organizations across 11 countries, including three partners from China.

Through this EU-funded initiative under the Horizon 2020 program, a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and IT specialists collaborates to transfer knowledge to farmers and other decision-makers throughout the food and feed value chains, promoting safer and more efficient management of mycotoxins.

  • National project within the Digital Innovation Hubs Support Program. Project No. 2023/DIH_01/000034, with subcontracting of the EURECAT Foundation. Development of a digital tool for the management of the formulations database. Years 2024–2025.
